Streeb, Dirk: J. Boy et al. [2017]: Showing People Behind Data: Does Anthropomorphizing Visualizations Elicit More Empathy for Human Rights Data? doi:10.1145/3025453.3025512 - 15.02.18 16:21 (?) Questioned Basically all of the publication p. 5471 investigate the growing assumption that because anthropomorphized data graphics create an immediate visual connection between abstract data and actual people, they are better suited than standard charts for eliciting empathy and prosocial behavior. Contrary to this assumption and our expectations, we have found that both types of visualizations have very similar effects.
